Does anyone have information on where to find gold in Iowa?  I found an article that talks about some gold dust found on the Iowa River near Newton Iowa, but wanted to know if anyone has actually looked for or known of someone who has found this treasure.  Thanks!

Yes there is gold to be found

Yes there is gold to be found in the creeks and rivers of the northern half of Iowa. It was drug down by the glaciers in the last Ice Age. Most of it is fine dust orflour gold but I have seen some small nuggets come out of the creeks/rivers of Iowa. The town of Eldora was a boom/bust gold town and was originally name Eldorado. They found a nice pocket of gold in the area.Check with the Iowa DNR or go to your local library to find more detail.
