Flight of the Tories Pulling off the road between Bearsville and Cooper’s Lake, the Tory commanded his slave to dig a deep hole. After depositing the silverware and bags of gold in the pit, the man recalled the old pirate adage, “dead men tell no tales.” To ensure the safety of his wealth, he murdered the slave and dumped his body atop the treasure. After refilling the hole, the black-hearted Tory continued his flight northward. For reasons unknown, the man never returned to dig up his wealth. |
