The Lady Distrusted Banks The $5 Million Murder: The grounds on the estate had grown wild and were unattended for years, despite frequent complaints from the neighbors. Mrs. Jackson was 66 years old, and like so many other millionaire recluses, she mistrusted banks. In her case, she had an excellent reason. On May 7, 1977, the lifeless body of Marjorie V. Jackson, a wealthy recluse, was found in her fire-damaged home, which police said contained more than $5 million in cash that was stuffed in trash cans, drawers and tool boxes. |
