Wow. The treasure-hunting world is abuzz over the roofers from Massachusetts. Did they find the cash in the barn or did they dig it up near the tree? Now they’re being prosecuted, but I’m not too sure for what. Being foolish I guess.
What happened here? Only the roofers know. But what do they know? I get the feeling that these guys weren’t thinking this through too much.
One thing that stands out. People’s desire for fame… above fortune. Watching those roofers clown around on TV, telling and re-telling their story, was hopefully an education for the rest of us. To borrow an old line from I Love Lucy, they’ll head up the chapter entitled “Don’t let this happen to you.”
As you might imagine, my email inbox was on fire when this story broke. I managed to watch a few of the video interviews and thought, well, guess they’ve got good karma. It wasn’t more than 2 days later that “questions” started arising.
Any treasure hunter that discloses the finding of anything will face a barrage of questions. In this case, I bet those roofers were drunk when they came up with the story. Then, they couldn’t remember it later…
Write this down: Wait ‘till your sober before you do anything serious.
