STONY BROOK, NY - A new book about White's Electronics' popular MXT metal detector is now available. The book, "The MXT Edge," provides a detailed guide to the use, operation, and technology of White's MXT. Also covered in detail are the related topics of ground mineralization, the VDI number system, and target metal characteristics. Written by Jeff Foster, the author of "Digging Deeper with the DFX," this new book, like its predecessor, is based on field experience, lab testing, and interviews with White's development team members.
"The MXT Edge" is organized into two parts. Part I covers the controls and operation of the MXT and includes detailed examples of the use of the MXT's Coin & Jewelry, Relic, and Prospecting operating modes. Included in these chapters is information on recognizing the MXT's unique audio and display responses to increasingly deep targets, interpreting the MXT's style of mixed-mode audio, verifying accurate ground-balance tracking, pinpointing techniques, and features not found in the Owner's Manual or Engineering Guide. Part II of the "The MXT Edge" covers topics that are of a more advanced nature. A chapter on VDI numbers looks in detail at this target ID reporting system. Also explained is the relationship of the MXT's "GND numbers" and the ground-balance system to the VDI scale. A chapter on ground mineralization explains this fundamental yet often overlooked topic that virtually all metal detector operators encounter each time they use their equipment. The chapter on search coils for the MXT includes 3-D sensitivity pattern graphs, for both coin and gold nugget sized targets, and unique "in-mineralization" target consistency graphs that report the performance of White's MXT search coils in increasingly strong mineralization levels. The appendices include bench-tests that help illustrate some of the MXT's features, a cross-reference to important MXT operation procedures, and 3-D graphs illustrating near-coil target responses to aid beginners in refining their pinpointing skills.
"The MXT Edge" (11" x 8.5"; spiral bound; 114 pages; 57 figures; 18 tables) is priced at $24.95 + $4.50 shipping and handling, and is available direct from the author at: Field Depth Enterprises, P.O. Box 260, Stony Brook, NY, 11790, USA, and through participating local White's dealers. White's dealers should contact their regional White's distributors about availability - local dealer inquiries welcome for non-served regions.
